When David Sawyer the Durham Referees’ Society Treasurer became the Durham County President for the 2018-2019 season he decided that he would try and raise funds for the MY NAME’5 DODDIE FOUNDATION, a very worth charity raising funds to aid research into Motor Neuron Disease (MND) more details
David organised two Rugby games against a County President’s XV as well as holding a number of raffles and was supported by many Durham referees making donations. A cheque for £2500.01p (increased to £2550.01p due to late donation) was presented to Doddie Weir who founded the foundation at St James’s Park on 28th December 2020
David and the referees’ society are continuing the fundraising effort
